Fun Sites for Kids to Visit!
Launched in 2001 by Eulalie M. Scandiuzzi, a Seattle native.
Moonjar moneyboxes are used in homes and schools around the
world.
Moonjar’s origination was sparked by Mrs. Scandiuzzi’s
childhood exposure to the values of hard work, thoughtful
decision making and strong financial ethics, paired with an
anecdotal remembrance of the Rockefeller family. In his family
kitchen, John D. Rockefeller kept three jars for his children’s
allowances for saving, spending, and charitable giving. This
model of managing money, paired with the legacy of her family’s
financial management principles, moved Mrs. Scandiuzzi to
create Moonjar. |

The 2010
"I Can Save!"
Tour
Funding provided by

The “I Can Save” campaign is
designed to encourage elementary school children to begin a savings
habit that can continue through their lives.
To commemorate April as Youth
Financial Literacy Month, NH Jump$tart volunteers as well
as state dignitaries visited with elementary schools in the Granite
State during the week of April 5-9.
Each student received a Moonjar moneybox after participating
in an interactive lesson. Moonjar moneyboxes were created as a tool
for children and families to incorporate strong financial values
and practices into their daily lives.
Winner
of a 2004 Global Learning Initiative Award for Educational Excellence,
each Moonjar consists of three moneyboxes (Spending, Saving, and
Sharing), a family guide to get started, a passbook to record deposits
and withdrawals, and a NH Jump$tart elastic band to hold the assembled
boxes together.
The "I Can Save!" tour will begin at Beaver Meadow Elementary School in
Concord with many invited state dignitaries and other invited guests.
